Out of 23 Italian tourists in India, 17 had a positive test result for SARS-CoV-2.
The AFP newspaper said earlier that two of the 23 Italian visitors to India had tested positive for Coronavirus and isolated in the state of Rajasthan, western India. The remaining 21 people were quarantined and waiting for tests at a medical facility in the capital New Delhi.
One of the two patients initially tested negative for Covid-19 but the second test tested positive. The patient was then moved to a quarantine ward and continued for a third test.
On March 4, Indian media reported that of the 21 quarantined travelers, 15 had tested positive for Covid-19, others were waiting for the results. Currently, a total of 17 Italian tourists identified corona virus infection in India.
Around the world, about 3,200 people have died of corona virus with more than 90,000 cases. In particular, China, South Korea, Italy, Iran and Japan are the hardest hit.
India has stepped up preventive measures including banning visitors from Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan, except diplomats and officials from international agencies.
