President Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that he was infected with the corona virus and was being treated at the hospital.

According to Reuters, the President of Russia’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said on May 12 that he had tested positive for the new strain of corona virus. Russia’s Interfax news agency said Peskov was being treated at a hospital.

“Yes, I’m sick, I’m being treated at the hospital,” Pesf said.

Peskov said his last personal contact with President Putin was more than a month ago, according to the TASS news agency. The Kremlin says Putin’s health is strictly protected and Russia will use the best medical treatments for its leaders.

Mr Peskov, Putin’s spokesman, is the latest senior government official infected with the disease in Russia. Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin last April said he was diagnosed with corona virus infection. Mr. Mishutin has temporarily retired to receive treatment.

Putin, meanwhile, was informed to work remotely at his home outside Moscow. From there, Putin conducts many meetings and participates in online conferences. On May 12, Putin met face-to-face with Igor Sechin, the head of Rosneft Oil and Gas Corporation.

Russia is currently one of the countries with the most complicated disease situation at the moment. In the past week, Russia has continuously recorded new cases of corona virus over 10,000 cases per day. The total number of Covid-19 patients in Russia has now reached more than 232,000, of which the number of deaths is 2,116.
