An Amazon worker was confirmed to be infected with the corona virus. The reason is that the company still keeps its employees working during an epidemic.
On April 3, Business Insider reported that an Amazon worker was positive for Covid-19. Well-known technology corporations in the US also confirmed this case.
The incident occurred at an Amazon factory in Jeffersonville, Indiana, USA. On April 1, Business Insider received a photo of its working environment.
The picture shows the Amazon employees standing very close to each other. While amidst the current tense situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, people are recommended to always keep a minimum safe distance of 2 meters.
After the case was discovered, Amazon notified employees via a voice message on Thursday night. The company said employees who were positive for Covid-19 were last seen at the factory on March 26.
“We will abide by the CDC recommendations and notify any colleagues who may have had close contact with the infected individual,” the Amazon director said in a notice sent to staff.
At the same time, the technology firm reassured that the risk of infection of other workers in the factory was quite low.
Amazon said the company will start checking all employees’ body temperature starting April 3.
“The company will strive to support workers who are positive for Covid-19. We are also following instructions from health authorities and are ready to take strong measures to ensure worker safety and health.” , Timothy Carter, Amazon spokesperson shared with Business Insider.
Amazon added that those unfortunate employees who had Covid-19 or had to quarantine themselves would receive two weeks of pay.
