Germany has a record high number of new infections in 3 consecutive days

The number of new infections in Germany has continued to increase over the past 3 days. As of April 8, the country recorded 107,663 cases and 2,016 deaths from Covid-19.

After two weeks of implementing a curfew, Germany recorded 4,288 new infections on April 7, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. A day earlier, the country had a new number of 3,252 cases.

Also on April 7, Germany reported 206 deaths, down slightly from 226 deaths the day before, according to Bloomberg.

According to Lothar Wieler, head of the German Institute of Public Health, the rate of new infections is positive, but this is only the beginning of a pandemic.

“We can see the epidemic trend is slowing down but the situation is just a small slice now,” Mr. Wieler told the radio. “We must not forget that hospitals, nursing homes and health facilities are on the rise. These sites can spread viruses very quickly. ”
