On 4/6, Iran announced 3,574 new cases of corona virus, the number of infections per day has been a record high since February.
This is the fourth consecutive day Iran has recorded cases of up to 3,000. The previous highest level was 3,186, recorded on March 30 during the peak of the first outburst.
Iranian Ministry of Health spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said the increase in new cases could be the result of a larger test during the second outbreak, according to AFP.
Jahanpour said that Iran has now conducted more than a million tests. However, the country’s Ministry of Health is not capable of promoting public health propaganda in recent days to remind people to protect themselves and ensure social distance.
The spokesman said 59 people had died of the corona virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 8071. In total, 164,270 people were positive for corona virus in Iran.
The southwestern oil-rich Khuzestan bordering Iraq remains the “red zone” of the Covid-19 pandemic in Iran. While Kurdistan, Kermanshah provinces bordering Iraq and Hormozgan province still issued serious warnings about the corona virus, a spokesman for Jahanpour spoke on television, according to Bloomberg.
Jahanpour called on people to follow stricter blockade regulations, while officials warned of a second wave of outbreaks throughout the week.
Iran has relaxed the blockade measures imposed over the past two months to reduce tensions in the economy battered by US sanctions.
“Despite the increase in corona virus cases, many people return to work to pay their bills. If there is another option, many people will not reopen their business, ”said Saeed, a 32-year-old high school teacher on the outskirts of Tehran’s Karaj.
