More than 47,000 deaths in the US, more than 2.6 million globally

The United States has had more than 47,000 deaths and more than 830,000 infections as of April 22. The University of Washington projects that the number of deaths in the United States may reach nearly 66,000 by Aug. 4.

According to Reuters, the number of corona virus deaths in the US surpassed 47,000 cases on April 22 after nearly reaching a record increase in 24 hours the day before.

The University of Washington forecasts that the number of deaths in the United States could reach nearly 66,000 by Aug. 4, an additional 6,000 cases compared to a previous forecast by the University. With the current growth rate, the number of deaths in the US could reach 50,000 by the end of this week.

According to California health officials, where samples were stored weeks before they were tested, Covid-19’s first death in the United States occurred weeks before the previously published figures. They claim that the first death in the US was on February 6 instead of February 29.

Three weeks after that, the United States became the country with the most Covid-19 deaths in the world.

The US recorded a total of 47,050 deaths on April 22, an additional 1,800 deaths and some states have yet to report deaths. The United States had 2,792 more deaths on April 21 alone, only 14 fewer than the record 2,806 deaths on April 15.

The state of New York, the center of the epidemic in the US, recorded 474 new deaths on April 22, the smallest increase since April 1. Nearby states such as Pennsylvania and New Jersey reported a record number of deaths on a record day on April 21.

Currently, the United States has more than 830,000 cases of Covid-19 confirmed and is the most affected country in the world. The number of new infections also increased by 20,000 on April 22, continuing to decrease as it did throughout April.

US President Donald Trump praised the steps of opening the economy in states with Republican governors such as Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee on April 22. These states have begun to resume their economic activity despite warnings that the number of infections may increase.

According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, 210 countries and territories recorded 2,620,579 cases of corona virus, of which 182,903 died, an increase of 60,075 and 5,977 cases compared to the previous day. 709,541 people have recovered.
