US President Donald Trump announced plans to immediately give money to Americans to ease the economic shock from the epidemic crisis.
Appearing with Trump in the White House press conference room, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he was in discussions with congressional leaders about plans to send checks immediately to Americans. Mr. Trump said some people will receive $ 1,000.
“We will win and I think we will win faster than people think, hope so,” Mr. Trump said.
Vice President Mike Pence said the government is calling on construction companies to donate N95 masks to local hospitals and not buy more to help doctors.
Pence said the US Army Corps of Engineers could be deployed to field hospitals to help deal with the virus-infected patient line.
On March 16, Mr. Trump called on Americans to be cautious for 15 days to slow the spread of the virus by avoiding crowds and staying at home as much as possible.
According to Reuters, the sudden disruption has caused difficulties for the US aviation industry and other economic sectors, causing the number of unemployed Americans to increase.
When markets were upside down and mostly trending downward, Mnuchin said that the US stock market should remain open to ensure Americans can access their money.
Mr. Trump called on Americans not to travel and said he did not eliminate travel restrictions to parts of the country. He said Americans just need to “enjoy in their living room”.
