Russia has confirmed 87,147 positive cases with Covid-19, surpassing China to become the 9th most affected country of the disease.

Russia confirmed an additional 6,198 cases of Covid-19 on April 27, bringing the total number of virus infections there to 87,147. The number of deaths in Russia to date is 794.

With this number, Russia has surpassed China and became the 9th most infected country in the world. China currently has 82,830 virus infections.

The majority of virus infections in Russia are in Moscow, although Covid-19 has been reported in 85 regions of Russia. The number of virus infections outside the capital is also continuing to rise.

Since March 30, 12 million residents of Moscow have been indoors to prevent the virus from spreading further, with a few exceptions.

City officials have warned the capital “will face tough weeks” ahead.

People in the capital, Moscow, will have to follow restrictive measures until at least May 1. They are only allowed to leave home to go to work, take their dog for a walk, throw away the garbage or go to the nearest store.

The city government also tightened the blockade order by introducing a digital license system. They require anyone traveling by car or public transport to have this license.

Russia has conducted more than 2.8 million tests of the corona virus. However, there have been concerns about the reliability of these tests.
