Russia recorded 11,656 cases of corona virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 221,344, the third highest in the world.

Nearly 12,000 infections a day are Russia’s new record and second only to the United States.

Russia is also far from Spain, the country with the second highest case in the world, about 3,000 cases.

94 people have died in Russia in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 2009, according to the RIA.

Russia is in the continuous days of recording more than 10,000 cases of corona virus, in contrast to the downward trend in European countries. However, Russia’s death rate is still the lowest among the top countries.

On May 7, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the extension of the blockade in the Russian capital, the center of the epidemic, until May 31. He also set a rule for people to wear masks and gloves when taking public transport, as well as in stores since May 12. Violators will be punished.

The same decree was imposed in St. Petersburg, the 2nd largest city of Russia.

Residents of the Russian capital are only allowed to leave the house if they go to the nearest store, walk the dog or participate in electronic-licensed traffic.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin ordered not to work nationwide until May 11, and has not yet extended it.

On May 9, Russia celebrated 75 years of winning the Great Patriotic War without parades on Red Square. Only air force performances.
