South Korea announced an additional 256 cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,022.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) confirmed the number of new cases in the country as of February 28, 256 cases.
South Korea is the region with the highest number of corona virus-positive people outside of mainland China, with the total number of patients nationwide reaching 2,022.
The country also recorded 13 deaths within the past 2 weeks from viral infections. In particular, both of the nearest death patients were related to the New Heavenly sect, the focus of the outbreak of community infection in Korea.
More than half of the new infections have been linked to the branch of Tan Thien Dia in Daegu, Korea’s fourth largest city.
Experts have warned that the number of new infections in the coming days will increase rapidly after South Korean officials put more than 210,000 members of the cult in need of testing.
Of the 256 new infections, 182 have been reported in Daegu and 49 in North Gyeongsang Province, according to Yonhap.
Many other provinces in South Korea also found infected people, with Seoul detecting 6 more positive cases.
The KCDC said that an outbreak of community infection in South Korea began after the Mass on February 16 at the church of Tan Thien Dia in Daegu.
During this period, a 61-year-old female Christian, positive for corona virus, attended some church services despite showing symptoms.
