The Mongolian news agency Montsame has announced the first case of Covid-19 in the country. The first patient was a French citizen arriving in Mongolia on a flight from France to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia on March 2.
According to the Mongolian Minister of Health, D. Sarangerel, the patient first showed symptoms on March 7. Montsame said the person ignored local health experts’ advice on the 14 days isolation.
Currently, the first patient of Mongolia is isolated in Dornogobi province, his condition is “relatively stable”. Mongolian officials say they are tracking other passengers on the flight of French patients.
The government identified 42 people the patient had met and another 120 closely related to the patient. Those who work for Badrakh Energy in the southern Dornogovi province, their health is still stable.
Meanwhile, Mr. Khaltmaa Battulga, the President of Mongolia and members of the delegation to China, returned to Mongolia on the evening of February 27 and are on a 14 days isolation period. The country has also taken steps to prevent the spread of the corona virus, delaying flights between Dornogobi and Ulaanbaatar until March 16.
On March 9, Mongolia banned the entry of foreign nationals from China, Japan, South Korea, Italy and Iran. Mongolian citizens returning from these countries will be quarantined for 14 days.
