Russia has recorded 2,558 more cases of corona virus in the past 24 hours. This is the highest number of infections in the day since the beginning of the epidemic.

The total number of people positive for corona virus in Russia is 18,328, the number of deaths is 148.

Of the 18 new deaths, 10 were in Moscow, 3 were in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 2 were in the Chechen Republic, 1 in the Moscow region, 1 in the Murmansk region and 1 in the North Ossetia Republic.

Nearly 1,500 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospital to date. The country has already tested corona virus in more than 1.3 million people, according to RIA Novosti.

Most cases are concentrated in the capital, Moscow, with a total of more than 11,500 cases. The city has seen an additional 1,355 cases in the past 24 hours. Moscow Region and the City of St. Petersburg is behind Moscow in the number of cases.

Moscow will launch a digital card system, allowing residents to leave home this week. Traffic police have also been deployed at all points of entry into the city to control travel. Drivers must answer their purpose of entering the city when the blockade is in effect.

The Russian railway industry will indefinitely suspend free-ship travel for World War II veterans starting April 13 to encourage people over 65 to stay home. This travel offer is offered before the 75th anniversary of Victory Day 9 May.
